Urgent Need: Kitchen
In Haiti, food can be a powerful incentive for vulnerable children to come to school. Unfortunately, most schools in poverty stricken regions do not provide lunch to students. We believe that a good meal is critical to student health and well-being, especially for students from families suffering from extreme poverty.
Gleam of Hope is looking to raise $5,000 US dollars to build a well equipped kitchen with a cooking team . The kitchen/cafeteria will be used solely for the purpose of preparing and distributing food to the children. It will include a sitting area where the children will eat their lunch. while at school.
Build Kitchen - Goal $5000
Everyday, the cooking staff at Gleam of Hope Elementary uses an empty classroom to prepare a hot nutritious meal for children registered at the school. Up to 45 meals are distributed with care and love each day.
Each child receive a plate of cornmeal or rice, with beans and vegetables, They may also receive meat wit their meals when the school budget allows for it. The food is purchased at the local market - this helps creates jobs and support the local economy.
The funds raised from this campaign will be used ONLY for construction purposes (Buy materials such as iron bars, cements, gravel, cinder blocks, metal sheet for roofing, water and to pay locals. None of the funds raised will be used toward administrative work. We are 501c3 organization. All donations are tax deductible
